You were swimming in clear water, or watching a flood creep under the front door. In dream interpretation, water is often linked to emotions, but calm water, rain and a storm are very different experiences. This guide brings together six water dream symbols: water, the ocean, rain, swimming, storms and floods. Each card gives a short reading and links to the full symbol page; read it as a lead, and check first whether recent weather, a trip to the coast or the news could have supplied the scene.
Dreaming about water tends to leave one detail behind: you could see the bottom, or you couldn't. Water is often associated with emotions and how much they weigh right now. Look first at its state (clear, murky, rising, deep) and at where you were: on the bank, in it, or carried along.

Rain is commonly associated with sadness, relief or renewal. Whether you were soaked or sheltered changes the scene.
Dreaming of swimming often shows how you are getting through something big: with ease, with effort, or against the current. It is often linked to emotions or a demanding period. The water and your stroke say more than the swim itself.

Dreaming of a flood means watching water rise faster than you can react: under the door, in the street, up to your knees. It often goes with overload from stress, emotions or change. The state of the water and where it spreads sharpen the lead.

If water keeps coming back, put those entries side by side; a shift from flooding to calm swimming often says more than any single image.
