A toilet in a dream is rarely about plumbing: a bowl that will not flush, a seat in full view of a crowd, a cubicle too dirty to use. It is often linked to privacy, relief and getting rid of what you no longer need. Notice first whether you could use it, and who was watching.
What Does It Mean?
You flush and the water rises instead of draining away, or the only toilet stands in the middle of a crowded room: in a toilet dream, start with whether you could actually use it. A toilet is often associated with privacy, relief and getting rid of what you no longer need. That is a common association, not a rule. A full bladder during the night is one of the most ordinary sources of this dream: if you wake up needing to go, that may be all it was.

Your scene: A blocked or overflowing toilet
Did the water rise slowly or flood the floor, and did anyone come to help?
A blocked toilet can go with something that will not go away, or a problem growing faster than you can deal with it. It predicts nothing about your home. What feels backed up right now?

Blocked, dirty or out of order? A toilet that will not flush, or that overflows, can go with something that will not go away however hard you try, or a problem growing faster than you can deal with it. A filthy toilet you still have to use can match disgust, or a situation you are forced to accept as it is. A toilet that is out of order, or that you search for in vain, often goes with a need you keep putting off. For the mess itself, compare with the poop page; for the whole room, see bathroom.
In full view, being cleaned, or something dropped in? A toilet with no door, in a classroom or an open-plan office, often goes with feeling exposed at a vulnerable moment; if being seen was the heart of the dream, the nudity page goes further. Cleaning a toilet can match a thankless task you have taken on, or a wish to put things right. Dropping your phone, keys or a ring into the bowl can point to something valuable caught up in an unpleasant business. None of these scenes predicts anything. If you often get up several times a night to urinate, mention it to a doctor: it is common and can be looked into.
Fictional journal example: “I was cleaning the toilets at my old school with a toothbrush while people I knew walked past. Nobody had asked me to; I just felt I had to finish before anyone used them.” Scene: an unpleasant task taken on alone. Emotion: humiliation mixed with stubbornness. Possible context: months of doing the thankless jobs at home or at work without anyone noticing. Question: “Which dirty job have I taken on without being asked, and who could share it?” Keep dreams like this in your dream journal to see whether they return when your workload grows.
